Business Analyst (contract)
Details:
1. Public Sector Digital Transformation
2. Rate: £360 per day (inside IR35)
3. Duration: 3 months contract (extension likely)
4. Location: Can be based in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, or Edinburgh
5. Working pattern: 3 days on site, with some flexibility for the right person.
6. Clearance: BPSS.
We’re looking for a Business Analyst to join a respected consultancy team delivering meaningful work across central government. You’ll be based in one of their hubs, for three days a week, working closely with multidisciplinary teams on a high-profile digital service, focused on shaping and improving a citizen-facing product in a complex public sector setting.
Essential requirements:
7. Recent (within the past 2 years) experience as a Business Analyst within UK central government
8. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
9. Comfortable working closely with digital and technical teams
10. Able to build effective relationships across multi‑functional teams
11. Right to work in the UK
The role involves:
12. Translating business and user needs into clear, detailed requirements.
13. Leading workshops, interviews, focus groups, and stakeholder sessions.
14. Supporting agile delivery through strong analysis, documentation, and prioritisation.
15. Defining user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
16. Working closely with technical and business stakeholders to maintain alignment.
17. Identifying process improvements and helping shape practical solutions.
18. Supporting the production of business cases and cost-benefit analysis where required.
19. Contributing to the wider BA community and supporting good practice across the team.
