Overview
The Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a fast‑growing part of the RAC that delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members – from their driveway to their workplace car park. The role offers a rotating, scheduled list of jobs with the time, tools and support needed for quality work. You'll travel in a fully equipped RAC van, carry a fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics, and work with members to provide advice and recommendations.
Responsibilities
* Routine servicing
* Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
* In‑depth repairs typically performed in a workshop
* Member advice and recommendations based on inspection
* Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
* Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
* Excellent people skills and ability to communicate with members
* Problem‑solving ability, adaptability and independence in work
* Desire to help people and use technical ability to keep them moving

* Competitive base salary of £45,370 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with on‑target earnings up to £57,000
