RM Recruit are supporting a fantastic socially focused charity in the recruitment of their newly defined Head of Finance vacancy. This role would see you take the lead on running the charities finance function, making sure everything runs effectively with strong governance and solid financial controls. You will work closely with the Executive Team and Board, helping shape financial strategy and providing clear, insightful reporting to support planning and manage risks. You remit will include, but not be limited to: * Report directly to the Chief Executive and the Finance & Risk Sub-Committee, while keeping in touch with the Treasurer and Chair as needed * Ensure accounting policies are applied consistently, and review them annually—ideally before the financial year ends—to keep everything up to date. You’ll also work closely with our external auditors to support this process. * Preparing clear and accurate monthly management accounts for the Executive Team and Board, including Income & Expenditure, Balance Sheet, and variance analysis, so everyone has the insights they need to make informed decisions. * Acting as a trusted advisor to budget holders, offering expert financial guidance so their decisions are backed by accurate financial insights. * Support and grow the Finance Team, from hiring and training to performance management—creating a positive and high-performing environment. * Ensuring the charity remains fully compliant with all its financial responsibilities—whether it’s HMRC, the Charity Commission, Companies House, or our funders and commissioners—and ensure all returns are submitted accurately and on time. * Oversee the external payroll provider, making sure their services meet needs and that all statutory obligations are handled properly and on time. This role will be based onsite 4 days with 1 day working from home per week.
