Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Croydon
Salary: 95 - 130 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential for permanent role)
Start Date: September 2025
About The Role
Are you passionate about supporting students to reach their full potential? Our client, a mainstream secondary school in Croydon, is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in education or youth support, who is keen to make a positive impact on students' lives.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may require additional support in managing their behaviour and emotions. Your role will be to provide 1:1 mentoring, small group support, and interventions to help students improve their social, emotional, and behavioural development. You will work alongside teaching staff and the pastoral team to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural or emotional challenges
* Implement strategies to support students in managing their behaviour and emotions in the classroom and around school
* Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to monitor and track students' progress
* Act as a positive role model, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to students
* Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them overcome barriers to learning
* Support students during transitions and help them develop coping strategies
* Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour
* Support with the delivery of targeted interventions and behaviour plans
About You
* Experience: Experience working with young people in an education or support capacity is highly desirable. A background in youth work, SEN support, or similar is beneficial.
* Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
* Empathy & Patience: You must be patient, understanding, and resilient, with a strong desire to help students succeed.
* Knowledge: A good understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies is essential.
* Qualifications: While not essential, a relevant qualification in education, psychology, or youth work would be advantageous.
