CMM programmer / Quality Inspector required for this revitalised and expanding sub contract aerospace precision engineering company. We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Mechanical Inspector to program and operate the CMM and conduct first off and final inspection of complex aerospace parts. Key Responsibilities: CMM Operations: Set up, program, and operate CMMs to perform detailed inspections on various components. Inspection & Measurement: Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts, ensuring compliance with specifications. Technical Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret complex engineering drawings, demonstrating a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Reporting: Generate comprehensive inspection reports, including First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with company and customer requirements. Non-Conformance: Identify, quarantine, and report any non-conforming products, collaborating with the production team to resolve quality issues. Manual Inspection: Utilise a full range of manual measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges to complement CMM inspection. Calibration & Maintenance: Assist in the routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment and inspection tools, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives by providing valuable feedback to engineering and production teams regarding component manufacturability and quality. Required Skills & Experience: A formal qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (e.g., City & Guilds). Demonstrable experience in programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). Proven background as a Quality Inspector or CMM Operator in precision engineering or manufacturing settings. Proficient in interpreting complex engineering drawings and a strong command of GD&T symbols and principles. Competent in using a variety of handheld metrology equipment. Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, quality-driven mindset. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Good IT skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
