Job Purpose
1. RES currently provides High Voltage Operations and Maintenance (HV O&M) Services to renewable energy assets in the UK & Ireland. Due to increased demand from our clients, we are seeking an HV Senior Authorised Person to grow and improve this service.
2. The SAP is a site-based role performing Operation & Maintenance duties on utility-scale solar/wind and battery storage sites and home/office working for other duties.
3. Candidate must currently hold, or have recently held, SAP status
4. Experience operating and maintaining utility-scale renewable sites/equipment or DNO assets, would be desirable.
5. You will need to be located near/travel to operational plants and have a full driving licence.
6. This is a permanent role and will require availability for weekend and on-call duties, including overnight callouts.
Key Accountabilities The responsibilities of the HV SAP’s include:
7. Always adherence to health and safety requirements and help to maintain and improve safety standards
8. Achieve and maintain Senior Authorised Person status.
9. Become fully conversant and make sure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the RES Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules and Safety Rule Instructions, this will include but is not limited to:
10. Preparing, issuing and cancelling safety documents
11. Carrying out switching, isolation and earthing duties
12. Acting as Control Engineer
13. Preparing switching schedules
14. Managing the interface between system boundaries with site and DNO as required
15. Producing and reviewing method statements and risk assessments
16. Producing maintenance plans for HV equipment
17. Maintaining the asset register
18. Management and/or delivery of planned and unplanned maintenance activities on electrical equipment
19. Producing final reports
20. Carry out basic protection testing on HV related equipment. Complex protection relay testing is desirable.
21. Undertaking troubleshooting and fault-finding on RES controlled plant/equipment.
22. Carrying out inductions for sub-contractors and deliver Competent Person Training.
23. Induct and manage in-house staff and sub-contractors, ensure their safe working, and undertake quality checks on their work.
24. Keeping in close communication with the O&M office
25. Liaising with external stakeholders such as DNO and asset owner
26. Reacting to emergencies, site outages and changing circumstances
27. Occasionally working away from home for training courses or to cover RES controlled sites in other geographical areas where required.

Knowledge Essential
29. HV Safe Systems of Work
30. Knowledge of the key legislation underpinning UK high voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance
31. Detailed knowledge of UK industry HV electrical safety rules
32. Detailed knowledge of HV equipment
33. HV maintenance practices including HSG230
Desirable
34. Knowledge of solar and Wind farm assets
35. Earthing system installation and test. Protection system installation and test.
Skills Essential

37. Able to operate and maintain various types of HV plant/equipment.

42. Able to use equipment for testing and fault finding on HV plant/equipment
Experience Essential
43. SAP Experience (11kV) Upwards
44. Operation and maintenance of HV Equipment
45. Experience in fault finding on HV plant and equipment.
46. Commissioning HV plant and equipment.
47. Basic HV protection testing
Desirable
48. SAP Experience at 33kV for DNO’s and renewables
49. Complex Protection relay testing and commissioning.
Qualifications Essential
50. Full UK driving licence
51. Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules
52. IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent
Desirable
53. Holds or previously held SAP authorisations under DNO Safety Rules
54. Electrical Engineering HNC or equivalent industry experience
