Specialist Pharmacist Haematology and Oncology

As a valued member of our pharmacy team you will play a key role in providing medication, advising clinicians on treatments, and supporting multidisciplinary teams. You will be involved in planning, managing supply chains, and ensuring safe administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy.
Main duties of the role
- Support planning ahead for treatment and manage the supply from our suppliers.
- Advising clinicians on treatments and participating in MDTs.
- Involve in testing groundbreaking therapies and deciding on treatment strategies for rare conditions.
- Manage compassionate use supplies for vulnerable patient groups.
- Participate in on‑call, extended hours, weekend and core duty rotas as appropriate.
Qualifications
- MPharm or equivalent degree in pharmacy.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Independent prescriber.
- Registration with Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Required experience
- Extensive previous experience in hospital pharmacy (Post‑Registration).
- Experience of developing and implementing service changes, audit, and change implementation.
- Sound knowledge of legislation, national standards and good practice around medication supply, storage and prescribing/use.
- Understanding of current healthcare policy aims.
- Experience providing pharmacy services to paediatrics and specialist pharmacist review for people with cancer.
- Experience handling chemotherapy in any setting.
- Experience managing a clinical pharmacy service to a specialty on a daily basis.
- Experience developing business cases and writing policies & procedures.

- Knowledge of clinical pharmacy and cytotoxic chemotherapy provision.
- Proficient in commonly used software such as Excel and Word.
- Experience with the SACT e‑prescribing system and protocol‑building validation.
- Aware of national initiatives related to chemotherapy services, especially SACT reporting.

Other Requirements
- Experience working in a pharmacy clinical trials unit.
- Recent experience in an aseptic or manufacturing environment, compounding cytotoxic chemotherapy and CIVAS.
