Overview
We’re looking for compassionate and caring Nursing Assistants with a passion to be a key part of the patient care journey at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). Our nursing teams are committed to delivering high quality, patient‑focused care and to working with empathy, consideration and dignity.
You’ll communicate in a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients, relatives, and other members of the multi‑disciplinary team, working flexibly across a range of day and night shifts over 7 days a week. Ward A6 is a busy emergency surgical admitting ward delivering care to General surgical patients from the Emergency Department and clinics as required. There are opportunities to expand knowledge and gain experience.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Nursing team in delivering a high standard of patient care under supervision, following Trust guidelines and protocols.
* Support patients with personal care needs, including mobilising, toileting, bathing, dressing, eating and drinking.
* Record patient observations and changes to patient conditions as part of delegated clinical duties after on‑the‑job training and assessment.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patients and families, ensuring a respectful and dignified environment.
Training and Career Progression
* On joining MFT, new to healthcare staff are supported to develop knowledge and skills through the Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants. Completion provides progression into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.
* Experienced Nursing Assistants undertake a skills analysis on start to meet required skills; gaps are supported with relevant clinical skills modules to progress to a Band 3 post on completion.
* Evidence of prior learning will be reviewed and considered.
