Procurement Manager
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire

The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement function within a food manufacturing environment. This includes sourcing raw materials and packaging, negotiating supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and delivering cost efficiencies while maintaining product quality and supply continuity.
Duties:
Procurement & Sourcing
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives
Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, ingredients, and packaging
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements to achieve best value
Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
Monitor supplier performance against KPIs (quality, cost, delivery)
Conduct regular supplier reviews and audits
Cost Management
Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety
Monitor commodity markets and manage price fluctuations
Prepare and manage procurement budgets and forecasts
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure all suppliers meet relevant food safety and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO)
Maintain full traceability of materials in line with regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audits
Supply Chain Coordination
Work closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to ensure material availability
Manage inventory levels, minimising waste and avoiding stockouts
Oversee supplier lead times and delivery schedules
Risk Management
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., supplier dependency, disruptions)
Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies
Skills & Experience
Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience in procurement within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
Strong negotiation and contract management skills
Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Professional procurement qualification (e.g., CIPS) desirable
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Cost savings and budget adherence
Supplier performance (quality, delivery, reliability)
Stock availability and inventory turnover
Compliance with food safety and regulatory standards
