The Vacancy

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Data Journey team as a Project Manager who will take on the role as Client Delivery Lead, working with colleagues across the firm to deliver large-scale, data-driven pensions programmes.

What will your role look like?

As a Project Manager within our Data Journey team, you’ll work alongside cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams across the firm, leading a varied portfolio of client projects. These will include GMP equalisation, buy-in / buy-out readiness, benefit rectification, wind-ups and other complex pensions data projects.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring that high-quality, efficient services are delivered to our private sector clients, providing strong leadership, oversight and direction across the full project lifecycle. This is a highly collaborative role, combining strategic planning, stakeholder management and hands-on project delivery.

Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:

1. Overall responsibility for the strategic planning and day-to-day management of a portfolio of client projects of varying size, complexity and duration
2. Working closely with lead consultants, project co-ordinators and clients to capture and agree strategic requirements, define objectives, scope and key milestones
3. Establishing, embedding and maintaining robust project governance and reporting frameworks with clients and key stakeholders
4. Overseeing and managing workflow across internal teams to avoid bottlenecks and support efficient delivery
5. Proactive stakeholder management, including developing, monitoring and implementing stakeholder management plans
6. Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation aligned to each stage of the project lifecycle
7. Undertaking initial risk assessments, implementing mitigating actions and ensuring effective management of risks and issues through to conclusion
8. Adapting to, and embedding, new processes and ways of working to meet evolving client needs
9. Monitoring and maintaining project plans to ensure delivery on time, within scope and on budget
10. Chairing and facilitating a range of project meetings, from internal core delivery calls through to senior client steering group meetings
11. Applying appropriate change control processes to manage and verify changes to scope, schedule and/or budget
12. Managing project budgets, monitoring actual spend and taking corrective action where required
13. Supporting the wider strategic objectives of the project management team, including input into proposition development
14. Leading the Data Journey Project Management team
15. Mentoring and coaching Project Co-ordinators, with potential line management responsibilities
16. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of project management tools, techniques and industry best practice
17. Undertaking relevant training to support ongoing professional development
18. Adhering to the firm’s information security, professional and quality standards, including peer review processes
19. Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of the firm’s products and services

To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:

20. A proven track record of managing complex programmes or portfolios of projects, alongside client-facing consulting experience
21. The ability to build strong, trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
22. The capability to quickly develop an understanding of pensions data projects; prior pensions knowledge is an advantage but not essential
23. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence effectively at all levels
24. Strong organisational skills with a proactive, solution-focused approach
25. Experience working in fast-paced environments and remaining calm under pressure
26. The ability to prioritise workloads effectively, meet deadlines and delegate appropriately
27. Strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach to working within cross-functional teams
28. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
29. Resilience and confidence when working with challenging stakeholders
30. Strong commercial awareness and business understanding
31. Demonstrable experience in a project or programme management role, or similar
32. Significant experience managing multiple concurrent and complex projects
33. Experience of Agile delivery methodologies (desirable)
34. Strong evidence of effective stakeholder management, both internally and externally
35. PRINCE2 (or equivalent) qualification and/or experience using PRINCE methodologies
36. Confident use of project management tools and relevant software
37. Experience within financial services or an employee benefits consultancy (advantageous)

Please note that as part of the recruitment process for this opportunity, candidates will be asked to deliver a short presentation.

We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support. We would also love to hear about other knowledge and experience you may have that is not listed but could be of interest.

In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:

38. A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
39. A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
40. On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
41. A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
42. Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
43. Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in-office’ days per week.
44. A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

Please note, we recruit on a rolling basis so early applications are recommended to avoid disappointment.
