Summary

We are pleased to share this exciting opportunity for an experienced Maternity Support Worker to join our team caring for women and families at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

This role involves working with and supporting our friendly teams of experienced Day Assessment Unit Staff and contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality antenatal and postnatal care to women and families in the Antenatal Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

We have included all the necessary details about this role in the job description and person specification. Please review the criteria carefully and include specific examples in your application demonstrating how you meet these requirements. Ensure your application is error-free before submission.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust ranks among the top 10 NHS Trusts nationwide and was named the second-best Trust to work for in the South East in the 2023 and 2024 NHS Staff Survey.

Our trust is a large acute hospital in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to approximately 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex. With over 8,000 staff, we are proud to offer specialised cancer services through the Kent Oncology Centre.

Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, joined the Trust in October 2024. It offers planned care, including two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms.

We support flexible working arrangements. If you need to adjust your hours or explore other flexible options, we are happy to accommodate your needs. Contact us to discuss how we can support your working requirements.

Joining us includes a comprehensive benefits package, such as:

* At least 27 days of annual leave plus public/bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff).
* Membership in the NHS Pension Scheme, with a 20.6% employer contribution and life assurance benefits.
* Blue Light card eligibility.
* Additional benefits detailed in the benefits documents.

Please note that appointment to this role is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced Level, which includes checks against vulnerable adults and children. Applicants on the barred list cannot apply if the role involves regulated activity.

Successful applicants will complete a corporate trust induction after their start date, followed by the Trust's Clinical Induction Programme for Healthcare Support Workers, starting on the first day of employment. The programme lasts two weeks, is full-time, and involves travel between Trust sites. It includes classroom-based sessions from 9 am to 5 pm and two supernumerary shifts in the clinical area.

If you do not hold a nationally recognised Care Certificate, you can start as a Trainee Healthcare Support Worker, Band 2. We will support on-the-job training to complete the Care Certificate within six months, with a minimum of three months. Upon successful completion, you will progress to Band 3.

We can only provide sponsorship for this role if you already possess your Care Certificate.

Applicants whose first language is not English must provide a language proficiency certificate, such as IELTS, with a minimum score of 7.0 overall and no element below 6.5.
