The role offers the chance to work as part of a small team of five staff who manage the US and Canadian student loan and grant processes. Key tasks include providing information and advice, processing loan applications and disbursements of funds, and ensuring that the University's loan processes comply with US Government regulations. You will also be the Scholarship Manager for a number of graduate scholarships. This will include activities such as: arranging the recruitment and selection of scholars; preparing offer letters; maintaining databases; and arranging payments. The post is available on a 9-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity within the team.
Qualifications
* A degree (or equivalent qualification), or a similar level of experience gained in a work environment;
* A high standard of administrative skills including: excellent standards of accuracy and attention to detail; organisational and time management skills; and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
* Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to interpret, clarify and explain complex information;
* Proven history of being pro‑active in identifying areas for improvement and experience of tackling challenging problems;
* Excellent IT skills, including substantial experience of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel together with the ability to master bespoke systems;
* A very good standard of numeracy and the ability to manipulate and analyse data using spreadsheets;
* Strong interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy, and the ability to establish good working relationships with a range of people and teams.
