We're looking for a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to join an established engineering department responsible for maintaining high-integrity mechanical systems and ensuring maximum uptime, safety and performance across a range of mechanically operated equipment. This is a hands-on role involving daily inspections, planned preventative maintenance and full mechanical overhauls - keeping machinery operating efficiently, safely and to manufacturer specification. Key Responsibilities Routine & Preventative Maintenance Daily/weekly/monthly inspections of mechanical assemblies, drives, brake systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors and rotating equipment Identifying wear, corrosion, misalignment and potential failure points Validating mechanical safety systems and shutdown mechanisms Testing & calibrating sensors, actuators and control-linked systems Ensuring assets remain safe, compliant and operational at all times Major Overhauls & Planned Engineering Work Strip-downs, rebuilds and deep mechanical inspection Replacing or refurbishing wheels, axles, bearings, suspension systems and mechanical interfaces Performance testing under operational and simulated load conditions Working with OEM representatives and specialist suppliers when required Maintaining compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements and audit criteria Troubleshooting & Breakdown Response Rapid diagnosis of faults across mechanical and control-oriented equipment Carrying out repairs or escalating specialist work as needed Ensuring all replacement components meet OEM standards Monitoring operational data to predict and prevent downtime Collaboration & Project Support Working closely with electrical, controls, safety and operations teams Supporting installation upgrades and commissioning of new equipment Mentoring and guiding apprentices/technicians where required Ideal Background We're looking for a mechanically competent engineer who enjoys problem-solving in a maintenance-driven environment.
