Design Manufacturing Engineer
Salary: £53–63k per year (DOE) | Working Model: Hybrid, 3–4 days on-site
Join a leading defence organisation at the forefront of delivering critical weapon system equipment. This role sits at the heart of the production facility, supporting manufacturing teams by resolving design queries, improving production yield, and ensuring programme targets are met.
You’ll collaborate with a small, skilled engineering team in a fast-paced yet inclusive environment, working across systems, electronics, electrical, mechanical, and software disciplines to diagnose issues, produce technical insights, and oversee corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the main point of contact for production design queries, coordinating with remote design authorities.
• Gather and analyse data from the shop floor to drive effective root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Utilise PLM and ERP tools to manage design data and track query resolution progress.
• Provide clear guidance on design deviations and their impact on certification and production costs.
• Lead technical progress meetings and oversee implementation of design changes.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience in product design engineering, architecture, or design authority roles, including transfer of designs into manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of engineering disciplines and quality management systems.
• Familiarity with PLM tools, build structures, and formal problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D investigations).
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with remote design authorities and manufacturing teams.
• Relevant qualifications: HNC/Level 4 in Engineering or a BEng/BSc in a related field with suitable experience.
