Purpose of the Role

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering robust test solutions that ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of our powertrain products throughout their entire life cycle—from early prototypes through to production release.

You will drive the development and improvement of test environments, dyno setups, and HV system test capabilities, and you will own the creation and maintenance of the DV test specifications that underpin product validation.

By combining disciplined test engineering practices with hands‑on technical expertise and innovative problem solving, you will enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of system testing across our entire product portfolio.


Principal Accountabilities

* Create, maintain, and improve the DV test specifications for system-level for our products.
* Translate system, functional, and safety requirements into robust test cases.
* Lead cross-functional reviews and integrate feedback from engineering teams in the test environment solution you will build.
* Act as the technical owner for DV test equipment, including racks, power supplies, HV instrumentation, and measurement systems.
* Manage equipment lifecycle: requirements, build, commissioning, calibration, and upgrades.
* Ensure all test equipment supports safe HV handling and compliant system testing.
* Develop and document test methods, wiring schematics, and setup procedures.
* Serve as the primary technical authority for dyno operation, including HV setups involving inverters, motors, and measurement equipment.
* Define dyno procedures, test cycles, instrumentation strategies, and safety protocols.
* Ensure safe execution of high-power, high-voltage tests.
* Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of dyno utilisation.
* Plan, prepare, and execute DV and development tests across HV and LV domains of our products.
* Analyse and interpret test data, prepare reports, and support root‑cause investigations.
* Maintain traceability of test evidence to requirements.
* Maintain test documentation, risk assessments, and operating procedures.
* Work closely with Systems Engineering, Hardware, Mechanical, Software, and Quality teams.
* Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, especially on HV test practices.
* You will work to established engineering processes, including ISO26262-compliant processes.
* Working in a team which is responsible for many projects you will work on various concurrent projects, and work to meet specified timescales.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

* Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
* Has worked in a comparable role/industry.
* Have demonstrable experience in electronic hardware life-cycle test design.
* Hands‑on High‑Voltage (HV) working experience (installation, setup, troubleshooting, safe test execution).
* Have demonstrable experience in measurement & instrumentation design.
* Have proven experience in requirements capture and writing technical proposals to meet product requirements.
* Experience operating high-power test assets such as dynos or inverter test rigs.
* Can debug and solve problems at system and circuit level.
* Are highly motivated, organized and confident in managing work and taking responsibility for project delivery.
* Enjoy collaborating with others, across disciplines, to produce elegant, far-sighted solutions.
* Are experienced in writing clear, formal technical documentation.
* Are thorough and rigorous in all your work.
* Have very good spoken and written English.
* Knowledge of automotive technologies & control systems.
* Experience with traction inverters, e-drive systems, or high-power electronics.
* Knowledge of HV safety protocols and training (e.g., UK LV/HV authorised person, EU HV training, ISO 13849 / ISO 26262 context).
* Familiarity with CAN tools (Vector, Kvaser), HIL systems (dSPACE/NI).
* Experience with requirement management tools (DOORS, Jama, Polarion).
