Overview
Join to apply for the Mechanical Building Services Engineer role at Balfour Beatty VINCI. This position is based on site in Kingsbury and supports the HS2 project, the UK\'s largest infrastructure project in Europe.
We are working on Britain\'s biggest construction project: the 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2, designed to enable HS2 trains to travel from London to Birmingham and beyond. You would join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.
Responsibilities
To provide mechanical building services engineering support during the construction, commissioning, and handover phases of complex infrastructure assets on the HS2 project. The engineer will ensure design intent is met, quality standards are upheld, and construction progresses on time and within budget. You will collaborate with HS2 representatives, design consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with UK regulations and HS2 specifications.
Qualifications
* Degree (BEng/BSc or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
* Solid understanding of mechanical systems relevant to infrastructure buildings, including: Ventilation systems, Heat pumps, Firefighting stair pressurisation, Domestic hot and cold water, Stormwater and foul drainage (above and below ground), Fire hydrant and gaseous suppression systems, Building Management Systems (BMS).
* Familiarity with health and safety standards in the UK construction industry.
* Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
* Working knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, and design guides (e.g., CIBSE Guides, BS EN standards).
* Eligibility to work in the UK (current valid right to work).
