Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist - Cardiac Rehabilitation

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated cardiac nurse to join the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team. We are looking to appoint a full‑time Band 6 Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist Nurse to cover maternity leave until July 2027.
The role requires a registered cardiac nurse with a passion for developing and delivering exercise programmes in hospital, community, virtual and home‑based settings. The incumbent will travel within Cambridgeshire to our outreach setting in Cambourne and will work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to health promotion.
Main duties of the job
* Provide education and support to patients post cardiac event in both in‑patient and out‑patient settings.
* Use clinical knowledge to provide a high standard of skilled care to patients.
* Manage own patient workload, prioritise needs and escalations as required.
* Plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation care provided to patients based on individual assessment.
* Line‑manage the administration staff within the team.
* Participate fully in the multidisciplinary team delivering cardiac rehabilitation, including individual or group education and exercise programmes.
* Receive regular one‑to‑one clinical supervision, appraisals and competency support.
Qualifications
* Professional adult nursing qualification and clinical knowledge acquired through training to diploma or degree level.
* Postgraduate training in a specialist area or specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practical experience.
* Leadership/management training and/or experience.
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Experience
* Significant experience in own professional field.
* Experience managing/supervising a multidisciplinary team and mentoring / educating junior staff.
* Understanding of clinical governance frameworks including the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), policy and procedure, audit and quality assurance.
* Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly those related to vulnerable patients.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to problem‑solve, use own initiative, plan, organise and prioritise own and others’ workload.
* Evidence of continuous professional development and willingness to participate in further training and education.
