Southall Medical Centre is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated physician associate (PA) to join our dynamic clinical team. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working as a physician associate (PA) in Primary Care.
Main duties of the job
The following form part of the responsibilities of the physician associate. You will be well supported by our on-site GPs and senior clinical team but you will be expected to work autonomously:
* Diagnosing, examining and investigating minor ailments and illnesses
* Manage acute and chronic conditions within the remit of your competency and training
* Consult patients face-to-face, over the telephone and via video consultation
* Long‑term conditions reviews (e.g. diabetic checks, asthma checks, care planning, non‑diabetic hyperglycaemia checks)
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
* Contraception / pill checks
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
* Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
* Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate

Job responsibilities
As per the main duties of the job, the physician associate must be competent to perform all general duties.
Qualifications
* Appropriate, valid physician associate qualification, and GMC registration
* Competency and valid certification in all key duties
* Experience with SystmOne clinical system
* Prior experience of working in a GP practice
