What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Project Officer - Land Charges (Planning) REF: Nuneaton 5281276 Pay rate: Up to £314.79 per day PAYE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 1 to 2 months, with chance of extension for the right candidates Working Arrangement: Hybrid working, 2 days in the office The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Project Officer - Land Charges (Planning) to support an initial 3 week project (with potential to extend for the right candidate) if necessary. You should have significant experience in and knowledge of Land Charges functions. The final Project will culminate in a report that summarises and advises the Senior Leadership Team on: Current workstreams within the Land Charges team Current workload of the team Current backlog and proposal for clearing this Any gaps in knowledge of the current team Identification of any current issues; what is working well currently and what isn’t Recommendations on the structure of the team once IDOX goes live (planned Spring 2026) Recommendations on moving forwards generally Any other relevant advice it is felt would be useful to the continued operation and success of the team What the client is looking for: Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, or similar) – desirable but not essential. Relevant professional accreditation (e.g., ILM, RTPI, or other local government or land-related qualifications) – advantageous. Extensive knowledge of Land Charges functions – including Local Land Charges Register, CON29 searches, and the interface with Planning, Building Control, and Property Services. Proven experience working within a Local Authority Land Charges team, ideally at senior officer or management level. Experience managing or reviewing Land Charges processes and systems, including backlogs, workloads, and team structures. Excellent project management skills – ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver a defined project within a tight timeframe (3 weeks). Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Good understanding of electronic Land Charges systems, ideally including IDOX or similar digital transformation projects. Experience supporting or preparing for digital transformation of Land Charges services (e.g., transition to IDOX or HM Land Registry’s Local Land Charges Programme) is desirable Previous experience in service reviews, performance improvement projects, or similar consultancy-style assignments.
