No Out of Hours | Varied Caseload | Flexible Working That Actually Means It

Tired of juggling high standards with zero headspace?

If you love good medicine but do not love sacrificing your evenings, weekends, and sanity to deliver it, this could be the change you have been quietly hoping for.

The Opportunity

We are working with a well established, RCVS accredited small animal practice in East Lancashire that has built something refreshingly sustainable. This is a team that believes high quality clinical work and a healthy personal life should coexist, not compete.

They are saying goodbye to a couple of long standing colleagues who are emigrating, and they are looking for an experienced small animal vet to step into a genuinely valued role. Not to firefight. Not to plug gaps. But to become part of a collaborative, forward thinking clinical team.

The practice operates across a main hospital site and two branches, offering a varied and interesting caseload with the facilities to work cases up properly. You will see routine consults and surgery, but you will also have the scope to develop particular interests, especially in surgery or orthopaedics, if that excites you.

Why This Role Is Different

No Out of Hours. Full Stop.

This role carries no OOH requirement. The practice runs its own out of hours service with experienced vets and a dedicated night nurse team, so there is continuity of care, but your evenings are protected. If you would like to participate in OOH, it is optional, not expected.

Proper Clinical Facilities

You will have access to:

* Digital x ray and ultrasound
* Video endoscopy
* Two fully equipped surgical theatres
* Dedicated dental suite with dental x ray
* In house laboratory
* Separate canine and feline wards

This is a set up that allows you to investigate and treat cases thoroughly, not cut corners.

A Team That Invests in Skill

Within the 65 strong team, there are certificate holders in medicine, dentistry and ECC, alongside RVNs with advanced qualifications in ECC, surgery, anaesthesia and physiotherapy. Peripatetic specialist support in ultrasonography and cardiology is also available. If you want to deepen your expertise, you will be encouraged and funded to do it.

Lifestyle That Feels Like Breathing Space

Based in East Lancashire, you are within easy reach of the Ribble Valley, the Pennines, and historic market towns, while still having strong transport links to Manchester and Leeds. Countryside at the weekend, city access when you want it.

Your Journey Here

In Your First Month

You will focus on settling in across the sites, building relationships with the nursing team and fellow vets, and getting comfortable with systems and workflows. You will have support while you find your rhythm.

By Three Months

You will be confidently managing your caseload, including branch based consults where required, and starting to shape how you work up cases. If you have a surgical or orthopaedic interest, conversations around development will already be underway.

By Six Months

You will be a trusted, integral member of the clinical team. You may be progressing toward a certificate, refining a niche, or helping expand in house services. Most importantly, you will feel settled, supported, and in control of your workload.

What's On Offer

Compensation and Time

* £45,000 to £65,000
* Full time, 40 hours per week. Part time considered
* 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
* Flexible working patterns built around real conversations

* Support for certificates
* Access to visiting specialists
