Key Responsibilities
* As a EHS manager, you will support the planning, implementation and review of Immunocore’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including those relating to wellbeing. Your primary objective is to collaborate with key stakeholders to create a workplace that is safe and healthy for employees, contractors, and visitors, while meeting sustainability and budget targets. You will lead the review of EHS systems, advise the EHS Director, and coordinate with facilities, research teams and projects to ensure safety is fully considered.
* Audit, assess and develop current EHS systems and activities.
* Support and develop the EHS support groups (Mental health first‑aiders, Safety Reps, Ergo Champions, Fire Marshals, Sustainability Champions).
* Lead fire safety strategy, advise on fire safety issues and provide recommendations.
* Engage with stakeholders to identify and implement safety improvement strategies.
* Drive corrective actions and improvements to safety practices.
* Carry out design safety reviews of relevant project work.
* Support projects in CDM (Construction, Design & Management) activities.
* Review contractor risk assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
* Enhance site control of contractors.
* Investigate near‑misses, incidents and accidents.
* Mentor safety support groups and support their development.
* Analyse data from electronic EHS systems (e.g., Eco‑online, ChemWatch).
* Provide professional EHS advice to employees.
* Work with the site to develop a safety behavioural program.
* Develop and facilitate EHS training courses and modules, including toolbox talks.
* Remain operationally focused and meet tight deadlines.
* Develop Gantt charts, conduct critical‑path analysis, root‑cause and failure‑mode analysis.
Supervisory Responsibility
* Act as deputy for the EHS Director.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
* Relevant EHS qualification (ISOH).
* 10+ years of experience in a similar position.
* Experience in a bi‑tech research environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* In‑depth understanding of health and safety legislation.
Other
* Project management skills.
* Understanding of the role of occupational health.
* Understanding of quality systems (QMS).
* Understanding of 5S and Six Sigma.
