We are currently supporting a leading engineering consultancy on a 12-month contract for a Project Manager specialising in High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience managing complex substation projects and a strong understanding of electrical transmission and distribution systems.
Role Overview:
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering HV and EHV projects across cable, overhead, plant, and civil scopes. You will take the initial functional requirements and translate them into compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions while managing projects to time, cost, safety, and quality targets. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and delivering HV & EHV projects from feasibility through energisation.
* Acting as
CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer
on projects.
* Coordinating internal engineering teams, external service providers, and customer interfaces.
* Administering commercial elements of the projects.
Requirements:
* Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* At least five years' experience managing large and complex HV/EHV substation projects.
* Strong knowledge of electrical transmission/distribution plant, including AIS/GIS switchgear, Protection & Control, Power Transformers, underground cables, and overhead lines.
* Experience in optioneering and selecting substation configurations based on functional requirements.
* Full project lifecycle experience delivering CAPEX and customer connection projects from 33kV to 400kV.
* Design knowledge of AIS & GIS substations up to 400kV and familiarity with relevant engineering standards.
* Excellent understanding of H&S and CDM regulations, including the ability to act as Designer and Principal Designer.
* Ability to interpret technical documentation for substation design.
