Responsibilities
* Assist in the safe operation of the vessel or the handling of its cargo.
* Berthing/Slipping of the vessel.
* Ship Husbandry Tasks.
* Ship Operational Tasks.
* Cleaning Tasks as directed.
* Drive/operate deck machinery including cranes.
* Assist in repair and routine planned maintenance of ship's equipment.
* Machinery care, routine maintenance and lubrication.
* Be fully conversant with the use of all safety equipment, emergency procedures and contingency plans.
* Aware of the company Safety Management System.
* Specifically: Permit to Work/Tag Out Systems; Shipboard Management Team; Shipboard Safety Committee.
* Be familiar with safety routines and ensure necessary safeguards are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences.
* Watch duties including navigational look‑out and gangway watch.
Qualifications
* MCA Certificate of Competency as an Able Seafarer.
* STCW Personal Survival Techniques (5‑Year Refresher Course).
* STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (5‑Year Refresher Course).
* STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (5‑Year Refresher Course).
* STCW Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (5‑Year Refresher Course).
* STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (5‑Year Refresher Course).
* STCW Elementary First Aid.
* Unrestricted ENG1.
* Must be a British National and British Passport holder.
* Must be able to obtain SC clearance, Disability Confident.
