We are looking for a skilled and proactive AV Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering excellence in education at the University of Edinburgh. Joining the Learning Spaces Technology team, you will manage and maintain the critical AV and IT infrastructure that underpins our teaching, study, and meeting spaces.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to become a service delivery specialist in AV and IT. You will proactively manage the health of a wide range of hardware and software infrastructure that powers our teaching, study, and technology-enabled spaces. You will lead on technical resolutions, drive standards for systems, and utilise the latest tools to enhance service quality.
You will enjoy a varied role that balances deep technical problem solving with active collaboration across the Information Services Group. By minimizing downtime and prioritising incidents, you will help shape a positive daily experience for students and staff across the campus.
Your Skills And Attributes For Success
* Technical Expertise: You have proven experience in configuring Audio Visual hardware and programming AV control systems, alongside a working knowledge of IP-based networking and troubleshooting.
* Problem Solving: You possess high-level analytical skills with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve varied and complex technical problems.
* Customer Focus: You have a strong background in customer service, capable of handling enquiries and service requests via telephone, email, and in person, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
* Organisation: You can prioritise your own time, multi-task, and work unsupervised within an agreed programme of work, even when under pressure.
* Communication: You demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to interact effectively with a wide range of contacts including academics, students, and external contractors.
* Qualifications: You hold a relevant degree (or equivalent qualification) or have significant professional experience in a similar field.
