Electronics Design and Development Engineer
Location: Hook, Hampshire, RG27 9GR
Contract: Full time, Permanent
We are GDS Instruments; we are recruiting, and we want you!
At GDS we design, develop and manufacture materials testing machines and software used for the computer-controlled testing of soils and rocks. This technology evaluates mechanical properties key in geotechnical and earthquake engineering design.
We are seeking an Electronics Design and Development Engineer to join our team.
Role Overview:
The role involves supporting electrical/electronic design information for all GDS products, ensuring compliance with CE/UKCA standards, and providing testing support for new and existing designs within the engineering team and across the business.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain and update electrical/electronic design documentation for business needs, customer requirements, and compliance.
* Test electrical/electronic designs against specifications.
* Handle technical inquiries and support, recreating issues with in-house test equipment to find solutions.
* Support change control and non-conformance processes under lead engineer guidance.
* Assist with prototype builds and equipment/tooling identification for testing.
Candidate Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in electronics/electrical engineering or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification.
* Knowledge of electronics components and system integration.
* Experience in low/medium volume electromechanical manufacturing environments.
* Experience supporting live production and adapting to changing priorities.
* Operational experience with testing and measurement equipment for CE/UKCA compliance.
* Knowledge of firmware/software languages such as C, C++, and C#.
* Experience working with energized electrical/electronic machinery.
* Familiarity with Jira, GIT, Confluence, or similar tools.
* Proficiency with 3D CAD software like SolidWorks.
