This is a locum NHS consultant cardiac surgeon appointment for 6 months based at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The contract length can be extended by mutual consent.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality adult cardiac surgery across elective and emergency practice within the regional cardiac surgical service.
* Work as part of a consultant cardiac surgery team delivering care for the Humber and wider regional population.
* Participate fully in the surgeon‑of‑the‑week care model.
* Contribute to service development, education, audit and quality improvement.
* Support service sustainability, safe emergency cover and succession planning while maintaining high standards of clinical outcomes, training, governance and multidisciplinary working.
Qualifications
* Recognised subspecialty expertise in aortic surgery.
* Experience in complex aortic cases complementing and strengthening the Trust’s major aortic programme (desirable).
* Consultant appointment in line with Royal College of Surgeons (England) guidance.
