Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Finance Officer for an initial 3 month contract on a salary of £36,268 to £42,587/annum (£19.85-£ 23.31/hour PAYE). This role will be based in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the integrity of the Agresso Accounts Payable and VAT reporting modules, including monthly reconciliation of relevant balance sheet accounts, continuous review and for identifying and highlighting any weaknesses, non-compliance or potential risks as well as contributing to the development of relevant policies and procedures.
* Provide support and advice as required to colleagues across the organisation, including advice and guidance on relevant account/tax codes and other areas of responsibility.
* Produce relevant, accurate and timely reconciliations and financial reports for areas including Accounts Payable and VAT. Assist in preparation of responses to FOI and PQ requests.
* Assist with the year end accounts processes for all areas of responsibility including preparation of year end guidance, review of year-end packs from establishments/directorates and completion of reconciliations and accounting schedules.
* First line management responsibility for one members of staff with the responsibility of providing support, guidance and assisting with their development.
Essential Skills:
* Experience of working in a relevant finance role within a busy finance function, with responsibility for monitoring and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
* Experience of using a Windows based financial system to process, interrogate and report on financial data.
* IT literate, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills with the ability to interpret and analyse financial data to identify potential problems.
* Highly motivated individual with the ability to work to tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy, also the ability to plan, prioritise and organise your own and team workload
Desirable Skills:
* AAT qualified or equivalent or willing to work towards this.
