An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a complex, high profile infrastructure project local to Leicester. This appointment offers authority, visibility, and influence within a high-performing business unit driving critical transport improvements across the West Midlands.
Role Overview
The Managing Quantity Surveyor will hold full commercial responsibility across a £40m infrastructure programme under an NEC Option C contract. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the position requires strategic oversight of cost management, subcontract procurement, risk control, and client interface while leading a team of Quantity Surveyors to achieve robust commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Lead the project\'s commercial strategy and execution
* Provide accurate forecasting, cost reporting, and margin analysis
* Manage contract administration and change control under NEC Option C
* Drive effective procurement and subcontract management
* Ensure compliance with governance, risk, and financial procedures
* Develop and mentor commercial staff to support succession and capability growth
* Maintain productive relationships with operations, clients, and supply chain partners
* Proven experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor within major civil engineering or highways projects
* Strong command of NEC contracts (Option C essential)
* Track record of commercial leadership and team management
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
* High level of commercial acumen, negotiation ability, and stakeholder engagement
* Chartered status (RICS or equivalent)
* Experience managing multidisciplinary packages across complex infrastructure programmes
