Health Care Assistant – Full-Time ( hours per week)
Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire
Salary: £28,000 – £29,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, hours per week
(Shifts: 08:00–20:30 or 20:00–08:30 on a rotating schedule – no weekend shifts)
About the Role
We’re seeking caring, motivated Health Care Assistants to join our skilled nursing team in Didcot. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a rehabilitation-focused healthcare environment, where your support plays a vital role in helping individuals regain their independence and wellbeing.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting patients in accessing therapy and rehabilitation services
Assisting nurses and health practitioners with patient admissions and orientations
Carrying out routine clinical checks such as blood pressure, pulse, and weight
Keeping accurate records of care using electronic systems (Pathway & Fitnote)
Reviewing physiotherapy requests and highlighting health concerns for review
Sharing test results and assisting with patient queries
Providing physical care and responding to medical situations when necessary
Leading health checks, relaxation sessions, and promoting wellness education
Ensuring equipment and facilities meet hygiene and infection control standards
Working across a rotating weekday shift pattern, including some night shifts
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting ( care homes, hospitals)
Strong knowledge of infection prevention practices
A valid DBS check
Own transport is required due to the rural location with limited public transport
Desirable:
Experience in delivering person-centred care and working independently
Familiarity with data protection and patient confidentiality practices
Confident using Microsoft Outlook and electronic care systems
Enthusiastic about health education, with experience in mindfulness or wellbeing sessions
