Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Back-End Developer with strong Laravel and PHP expertise to play a key role in the development and scaling of our marketplace platform. You will be responsible for designing and building robust, secure, and high-performance backend systems that support core marketplace functionality and evolving business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* System Architecture & Development
o Design and implement scalable, maintainable backend architecture.
o Apply SOLID principles, clean code practices, and clear separation of concerns.
o Develop modular components using service-layer and repository patterns.
* Core Platform Features
o User authentication and role-based authorisation (Sanctum/Passport).
o Service listings (creation, editing, search, filtering).
o Order lifecycle and transaction management.
o Secure payment integrations (Stripe, PayPal).
o Internal messaging, reviews, and dispute resolution.
o RESTful API development with versioning support.
* Database & Performance
o Design and maintain efficient, well-structured database schemas.
o Optimise SQL queries, indexing, and prevent N+1 issues.
o Implement Redis for caching, sessions, and queue systems.
o Monitor performance and address scalability concerns.
* Integrations & Collaboration
o Integrate third-party services such as payment providers and notifications.
o Work closely with frontend developers (e.g., Vue.js) to ensure seamless API integration.
* Testing & Maintenance
o Write and maintain feature and unit tests (PHPUnit/Pest).
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development and production environments.
o Support system stability and continuous improvement.
Technical Requirements
* Core Technologies
o PHP 8.2+ with strong OOP principles.
o Laravel (v10–12) with 3+ years’ production experience.
o Advanced SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL), query optimisation, indexing.
o Redis for caching, sessions, and queues.
* Architecture & Tooling
o Service-layer and repository patterns.
o RESTful API design and authentication.
o Event-driven architecture (Laravel Events & Listeners).
o Git, Composer, PHPUnit/Pest.
o Code quality tools (PHP Insights, Pint/CS Fixer).
* Performance & Testing
o Query optimisation and N+1 prevention.
o Queue and memory optimisation.
o TDD mindset and integration testing.
o Understanding of code coverage.
* Required Experience
o E-commerce or marketplace platforms (2+ years).
o Multi-user role systems and permissions (Spatie or similar).
o Payment gateway integrations (Stripe, Braintree, PayPal).
o Order/transaction processing workflows.
o File upload (S3).
Job Details
