Service Care Legal is currently recruiting on behalf of a North London Council for an experienced Locum Planning Lawyer to join their legal services team on a 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with strong local government planning experience seeking an assignment within a supportive and well-established team. ROLE: Planning Lawyer LOCATION: North London CONTRACT: 12 Months, 36 hours per week RATE: £50–£55ph umbrella / £48.46ph PAYE inc. holiday ay / £43.24ph PAYE exc. holiday pay Please note that this role would require office attendance 2 days per week. Key Responsibilities Provide legal advice and representation on planning, highways, and associated regulatory matters. Draft and negotiate Section 106 agreements, Section 278 agreements, and related planning obligations. Advise planning committees, officers, and stakeholders on complex planning applications and enforcement issues. Conduct and manage planning appeals, judicial review matters, and enforcement proceedings as required. Person Specification Be a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales (or equivalent qualification) with a current practising certificate. Have substantial experience handling planning law matters within a local authority setting. Demonstrate strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in relation to Section 106 agreements. Be able to manage a varied caseload independently and provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to non-legal colleagues.
