Location: Lisburn - Lagan Valley Island, UK Hours: 37 per week Rate (PAYE): £20.29 per hour Start Date: 1 April 2026 | Duration: 16 weeks Role Overview Our client, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, is looking for a dedicated Animal Welfare Officer to enforce the Welfare of Animals Act (NI) 2011. This role involves investigating complaints, taking enforcement action, preparing legal files, and providing advice to the public. Key Responsibilities: Investigate reports of animal welfare breaches and take enforcement action Serve notices and prepare prosecution files, attend court as an expert witness Assess animal health and environments, liaising with veterinary and public bodies Work independently in challenging and sometimes unpleasant environments Educate and advise owners to improve animal welfare Maintain records, reports, and statistical returns to a high standard Drive and maintain a council vehicle, using relevant tech and equipment Candidate Requirements: HNC (or equivalent) in Animal Care/Management OR 2 years' enforcement experience Minimum 1 year experience in enforcement roles, including legal procedures and public liaison Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and resilience Eligible to work in the UK Why Work With Our Client?
