Production Engineer – 2 Year FTC
Safran Helicopter Engines are the world's leading manufacturer of rotorcraft turbines and the only global supplier dedicated exclusively to this market. Our UK facility is the European Maintenance Centre Hub for the SHE Group, performing level 1 to level 3 maintenance and repairs on complex helicopter engine components.
About the Role
The Production Engineer is responsible for industrialising design changes and the introduction of new products into Safran HE UK's new production activity, while providing ongoing technical support to the existing product portfolio. This includes defining production methods, manufacturing instructions, stage drawings, setting sheets, CNC programs, tools and gauges, and ensuring that all manufacturing is delivered to a robust quality standard at the lowest possible total cost.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret customer documentation (Bill of Materials, specifications, drawings, sketch sheets, assembly & test schedules, etc.) to ensure robust manufacturing processes.
* Create all processes & procedures for the production of parts and sub‑assemblies, including definition of associated tooling.
* Fully validate all manufacturing processes in accordance with SHEUK and customer procedures.
* Maintain, support and control instructions, stage drawings, tool and work holding drawings.
* Support the NCR process through implementation of corrective actions.
* Review all customer product and specification change documentation to ensure changes are interpreted and implemented into the New Production documentation system in a controlled manner.
* Generate all details for manufacturing cost input (Quotations).
* Specify equipment and tooling needed for new production products.
* Support capital justification for new equipment.
* Work in accordance with HSE legislation, Company Operating Systems, policies and procedures.

* Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and working practice, and take responsibility for implementing improvement actions.

Qualifications
* Recognised Engineering Qualification – Minimum HNC.
* Minimum 4–5 years of experience with a 3D CAD system (preferred).
* Minimum 4–5 years of experience with CAM / offline programming system (preferred).
Competencies
* Working knowledge of SolidWorks & Edge CAM (advantage).
* Knowledge of Production Engineering, preferably from Aerospace or a regulated high‑tech manufacturing sector (advantage).
* Ability to create a plan and deliver to agreed deadlines.
* Strong IT skills, including MS Office applications.
* Experience creating and modifying machine programs for 5‑axis machining centres and mill/turn lathes (Heidenhain, FANUC and Seikos controls).
* Experience creating and updating technical documents.
* Experience with 5 why’s / Ishikawa and/or 8D problem‑solving tools.
* Experience with AS9102 or APQP (advantage).
* Experience with PFMEA risk management (advantage).
* Experience with SAP ERP system (advantage).
