Teaching Personnel are looking for a dedicated, patient and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join a specialist SEN school in the Trafford area. This setting supports pupils with a wide range of complex needs, and we are looking for someone who can offer emotional, behavioural and wellbeing support to help pupils thrive. About the School You will be joining a welcoming and highly supportive SEN secondary provision catering for pupils with a range of complex needs, including: PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) Sensory processing challenges Communication and interaction needs Physical disabilities and medical needs The school places a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, individualised care, and building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle to regulate and express their emotions. Your Role As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will: Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day. Build trusted relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence and wellbeing. Support pupils with regulating their emotions, managing anxiety or distress, and maintaining positive engagement in learning. Work closely with teaching staff, therapists and the wider pastoral team to implement personalised support strategies. Help create a calm, safe and nurturing environment that meets sensory and communication needs. Support with daily routines, classroom transitions and specialist interventions. Encourage positive behaviour and celebrate small but meaningful progress. What We’re Looking For We would love to hear from you if you have: Experience working with SEN, ideally in a school, care or youth setting. An understanding of complex needs such as PMLD, SLD or sensory challenges. A proactive, resilient and compassionate approach. The ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel). Why Work with Teaching Personnel?
