Senior Infrastructure Engineer – VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
Type: Contract - 6 Month INSIDE OF IR35 - £650 PER DAY
About the Role
We’re expanding our global Virtualisation Engineering team and are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) experience to help shape our next-generation infrastructure platform.
This role sits at the heart of a multi-year transformation programme, where we’re building a scalable, automated, and resilient VMware-based virtualisation stack. Working alongside internal teams, strategic partners, and expert consultants, you’ll be heavily involved in designing, testing, integrating, and deploying VCF across large-scale greenfield and brownfield on-prem environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Design and engineer enterprise-scale virtualisation platforms using VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), covering compute, storage, networking, and security.
* Lead the evaluation, certification, benchmarking, and integration of VCF into existing environments and new deployments.
* Produce clear integration and migration plans, including risk assessments, scalability considerations, and operational readiness.
* Work closely with infrastructure, security, operations, and vendor teams to deliver highly available, compliant, and resilient platforms.
* Embed Infrastructure as Code and automation principles, using tools such as Ansible and Python, and integrating with configuration management systems.
* Drive operational excellence, including platform hardening, performance optimisation, and security compliance.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong experience designing and delivering large-scale VMware virtualisation platforms, with hands-on VCF exposure in both greenfield and brownfield environments.
* Deep technical expertise in VMware ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, and associated components (design, build, troubleshooting, tuning).
* Experience contributing to or delivering a multi-year VMware Cloud Foundation rollout.
* Proven ability in capacity planning, infrastructure sizing, and integrating complex, multi-vendor platforms.
* Solid foundations across Linux, networking, storage, and enterprise hardware.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear technical designs and documentation.
