Responsibilities
* Coach and share expertise with Child & Family Help Practitioners to deliver high-quality interventions.
* Conduct comprehensive, family-oriented assessments in collaboration with practitioners.
* Set realistic goals and maintain professional boundaries with families.
* Keep detailed records of all interventions and support provided.
* Prioritise the welfare of children and young people in every decision and action taken.
* Lead s47 investigations when necessary, ensuring a smooth transition to higher-level interventions if required.
* Develop and coordinate multi-agency partnerships for optimal child and family outcomes.
* Respond promptly to significant events and escalate issues as needed.
* Foster an organisational culture that emphasises partnership, learning, and innovation.
About you
We are looking for individuals with a degree-level qualification in social work and active Social Work England registration. You should have significant experience in a safeguarding environment and be skilled at supervising and engaging with high-risk children, families, and multi-agency stakeholders effectively. Strong skills in record-keeping and IT will also be essential, alongside your enthusiasm for achieving AfC’s tenets and producing excellent outcomes for children and families.
About the service
The Child and Family Help Team is an integral part of the Social Care and Early Help Directorate. This team works tirelessly to support children, young people, and families in need of targeted early help or specialist intervention. Collaborating with various agencies, the service aims to prevent more serious issues, helping to avert referrals into Child Protection services. Within this role, you will report to the Child & Family Help Team Manager and will supervise qualified C&FH Practitioners. Based primarily in our offices, youth centres, or family hubs, your work will span Kingston or Richmond boroughs within early help and statutory frameworks.
