Job Description
Key responsibilities include:
3. Leading a circa £1.5bn tender, currently in dialogue phase, requiring strong commercial judgement and experience beyond simple or transactional procurement structures.
4. Managing and delivering a broader pipeline of sourcing demand across the programme, ensuring pace, quality and compliance with organisational policies and processes.
5. Leading a core team of three direct reports, alongside a wider virtual team contributing to programme‑related procurements.
6. Engaging and influencing at the most senior levels, including Executive Committee members and Functional Directors, providing clear advice and challenge where needed.
7. Maintaining a strategic, end‑to‑end view of the sourcing pipeline while also being prepared to "roll sleeves up" and intervene directly where required.
8. Identifying, coordinating and delivering dependent or enabling sourcing activities that sit outside the immediate programme scope but are critical to its success.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Interim Strategic Sourcing Manager should have:
9. A highly experienced strategic procurement professional, with a strong track record of operating at scale and pace within regulated or complex environments.
10. Public sector experience or working in highly regulated enviroments such as Rail or Utilities.
11. Commercially astute, confident managing large‑value, multi‑lot or dialogue‑based procurements.
12. Comfortable leading teams, setting direction, and holding others to account.
13. Credible and confident with senior stakeholders, able to navigate challenge and make robust, defensible decisions.
14. Able to hit the ground running with minimal support.
