Job Title: CNC Turner Programmer Setter Operator Shift: 8am – 5PM (Mon – Thursday & Friday 8am to 2.30pm) or the alternitive night shift of Monday to Wednesday 4.30pm to 3.30am & Thursday 4.30pm to 2am Rate: £20- £27 per hour (Depends whether it will be the day or night shift) Job Purpose: To program, set up, and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision components in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications. The role involves developing CNC programs, selecting tools, and ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the machining process. Key Responsibilities: * Interpret engineering drawings, models, and technical specifications to create accurate CNC turning programs. * Program CNC lathes using Fanuc controls from scratch and interpreting technical drawings * Set up and operate CNC turning machines, including tooling selection, workpiece fixturing, and setting tool offsets. * Optimize machining processes to improve cycle time, surface finish, and tool life. * Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using appropriate metrology tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM). * Ensure manufactured components meet drawing tolerances and quality standards. * Adjust and modify programs as needed based on feedback from machining and inspection. * Perform routine machine maintenance and report issues to maintenance staff. * Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues. * Maintain high standards of housekeeping and comply with health & safety regulations. Qualifications and Experience: * Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering / Machining. * Proven experience in CNC turning – programming, setting, and operating. * Strong knowledge of CNC control systems (Fanuc) * Experience with CAD/CAM software (desirable). * Familiarity with precision measurement tools and inspection processes. * Experience working with various materials (steel, aluminium, stainless steel) * Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (advantageous).
