The Role: As the Clinical Service Lead - Radiotherapy, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the on-going delivery of radiotherapy clinical services at a centre. Charged with directly leading radiotherapy services across all installed platforms at the centre including MR Linac, Conventional Linac, Gamma Knife and the stereotactic radiosurgery service. Your role will focus on operational excellence, compliance, competency, and skill mix across all centre platforms. You will be trained, competent and experienced in all key areas of Radiotherapy covered within the centre. You will be responsible for ensuring an integrated approach to staffing and team engagement across all platforms are implemented and realised every day. You will support the Centre Leader and the Head of Radiotherapy in the development and implementation of business objectives and long-term clinical strategy. You will be comfortable managing and leading a team of Radiographers across all platforms, delivering process innovation, efficiency and display excellent clinical judgement. You will be required to support clinically from time to time during period of absence/leave and times of training and upskilling. You will work directly with the Centre Leader to monitor and identify corrective actions to ensure the efficient delivery of excellent services in care delivery. This role caries particular responsibility for ensuring the department is adhering to the regulatory guidelines such as CQC, IRMER, ISO, NICE, MHRA and Macmillan Responsible for the implementation, monitoring and identifying corrective actions to ensure the efficient delivery of excellent service in care delivery operations across the service To lead the radiotherapy service across all centre platforms and drive operational, technical and clinical excellence in the utilisation of the equipment so that all operational objectives and standards are achieved, and the reputation of GenesisCare for exceptional service and outcomes is promoted. To ensure that good radiotherapy practice is carried out across the centre, identifying and supporting where improvements are required. To act as a technical expert in your field, providing in depth, clinical and supportive sharing of knowledge with a view to improve understanding and excellence within the radiotherapy team To undertake audits to ensure the service provision is aligned and individual team members are able to consistently meet the requirements of their roles. Where audits identify areas for improvement to help address these by bringing data driven materials to department team meetings, bringing together, and tracking improvement action plans. Leading on incident sharing and risk management, collaborative learning and tracking trends, as well as forging an open, honest, and collaborative culture of learning and improvement. To lead the clinical radiographer teams across all platforms in all aspects of operations, supporting a safe, high quality and efficient patient pathway Tracking and ensuring competency sign offs are in place and refreshed annually across all platforms and development plans are in place for all staff. Provide technical leadership and assist in the development of protocols, areas of technical and clinical research and implementation of clinical trials where required. Knowledge of applying relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines e.g. IR(ME)R. Have an external presence by presenting, publishing and collaborating to positively contribute to evidence base and GenesisCare's reputation as a world class leader in radiation oncology services. Actively participate as a member of GenesisCare national committees and support project work relevant to the role. What You'll Have: Experience and skills: Able to demonstrate significant post qualification experience in the management and leadership within a stereotactic service. Experience within all aspects of radiotherapy; quality assurance, pre-treatment simulation, on set imaging and treatment delivery Evidence of effective management of staff and co-operative working Evidence of empathetic and a holistic approach to patient care Good experience with resolving complaints satisfactorily Sound understanding of quality and governance Experience of proactively evolving and novel radiation therapy imaging and dose delivery techniques A wide range of clinical, research and new service implementation skills Evidence of effective leadership Evidence of effective organisational, interpersonal and communication skills Strong relationship building skills Able to make independent judgments/decisions, ability to solve problems Able to work flexibly to achieve GenesisCare business objectives Able to act as a trainer and mentor for staff being managed Cannulation training & accreditation to support the clinical service (MR-Linac Roles) Qualifications and Knowledge: DCR (DR) or BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography Post graduate studies or substantial experience in a relevant field (e.g., MR Imaging, Advanced Dosimetry) HCPC registration Evidence of continuing professional development Leadership or participation in the development of a new or novel radiation oncology or associated service.
