Hourly Rate
$23.74 per hour (increase to $25.67 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period).
Position Summary
The Senior Billing Representative / Cashier is responsible for the entire range of billing and cashier functions related to the Kornberg School of Dentistry clinics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, manual and electronic billing, insurance verification, payment posting and reconciliation, and follow‑up on denied claims or claims requiring additional information. The incumbent also handles all cashier duties such as accepting payments, posting payments to accounts, and reconciling cash and payments for daily activity.
Required Education and Experience
At least 3 years of related experience is required. Experience in a professional billing environment with third‑party coverage plans and all phases of claims processing is essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
* Previous experience within a dental, medical, or higher education environment.
* Previous experience with Axium.

Essential Duties
* Verify insurance and work with patients and students to settle insurance issues.
* Post payments, reconcile Explanation of Benefits when a claim is not paid, and obtain further information for resubmission when required.
* Ensure patient accounts are orderly and up‑to‑date.
* Handle patient/student and doctor complaints and inquiries, acting as a source of information.
* Prepare pre‑authorization requests and monitor receipt.
* Prepare claims and use the appropriate channel for submitting claims.
* Process credit and debit payments at the cluster site when appropriate.
* Compile statistical data for the Business Office or other departments.
* Prepare deposits for daily pickup.
* Prepare reports, worksheets, and other forms related to daily cashier functions and forward all information to the appropriate department.
* Keep up‑to‑date on policies and procedures related to the Dental School and answer questions from administration and outside stakeholders.
* Assist with preparing patient accounts for submission to collection agencies.
* Prepare and submit reports to the Business Manager when required.
