SEN Teaching Assistant Required in New Malden (South London) – Immediate Start

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for a Humanities Teacher to join an Ofsted “Good” Special School. The position will involve providing classroom support to students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, this will be a full-time, long-term position starting immediately.

About the school:
The school is a specialist school catering for pupils in years 5-11 years all with EHCP’s. Students have primarily high functioning ASD, communication or complex needs. Focusing on a nurturing environment working alongside CAMHS, Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists, educational psychologists, Social Workers and Mentors.

Position: Humanities Teacher

School Type: Independent Specialist Behavioural Needs School (PRU)

Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Full Time, 5 days per week

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Paid according to experience

Location: Mitcham, CR3

Contract: Long-term with potential to turn into a permanent

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Humanities subjects tailored to the needs of students with SEMH.
2. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment to support students’ social and emotional development.
3. Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support where needed.
4. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and parents to enhance the learning experience.

Requirements:

5. Proven experience teaching children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly in an SEMH setting.
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
7. A current DBS check registered on the Update Service.
8. The right to work in the UK.
