We are looking for someone to join our team on Trauma Ward A as a Ward Clerk. This is a vital role within our service for someone who is organised, friendly, and a great team player.
Trauma Ward A is an inpatient ward caring for adults who have sustained traumatic injuries, It is a fast paced and dynamic environment, so being adaptable and responsive is key.
This is an administrative job that involves lots of interaction with patients, visitors and clinical staff. A background in health care would be an advantage but not a necessity. More important is your communication skills and ability. The Ward Clerk is often the first interaction that an anxious or distressed relative might have with the ward their loved one has been admitted to, so compassionate and efficient communication is a must.
The Trust uses an electronic patient record (EPR) system, so competence and confidence with computer skills is necessary. Previous experience with EPR/Cerner millennium would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job
The Ward Clerk role supports the clinical staff in the department with administrative duties. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. answering internal and external telephone enquiries,
2. greeting and assisting visitors to the ward,
3. booking outpatient follow up appointments,
4. booking of transport for patients being discharged or transferred for ongoing care,
5. liaising with other departments such as radiology, to arrange diagnostic tests for patients,
6. use of the Trust's electronic patient record system
