Role – Assistant Project Manager
Location - Coventry

As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support a team of Project Managers across a varied portfolio of projects. You’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate project data, updating schedules, managing documentation and keeping everything running smoothly. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys collaborating with others and wants to develop their project management capabilities.
What you'll be doing:
Support Project Planning & Delivery
1. Assist with activity planning, sequencing and scheduling using Microsoft Project Gantt charts.
2. Contribute to quality, risk and time planning across multiple live projects.
3. Maintain project accuracy within the Digital Project Management System.
Produce High‑Quality Project Documentation
4. Prepare and issue contractual notices, progress reports, commercial reports and professional email correspondence.
5. Support effective document control, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
6. Help maintain future resource and time forecasts to support planning.
Communicate & Collaborate
7. Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients and delivery partners in a clear and professional manner.
8. Support coordination efforts to meet key deadlines, commitments and milestones.
9. Learn and understand project milestone and payment processes, gathering documentation where required.
Champion Good Practice & Continuous Improvement
10. Build knowledge of products, processes and internal frameworks.
11. Identify opportunities to remove inefficiencies and improve processes.

About you:
You’ll bring proven experience or transferable skills in:
15. Creating and updating Project Gantt chart plans
16. Project change management
17. Clear, confident written and verbal communication
18. Strong organisation and the ability to balance multiple priorities
19. Collaborative and partnership working
You’ll also have:
20. Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Project
21. Excellent written communication skills for detailed, professional documentation
22. The ability to consult, negotiate and build positive relationships
23. A passion for delivering excellent customer service
24. A team‑focused approach with a willingness to learn
25. Positivity, flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities

While not essential, the following would be an advantage:
27. ONC/HNC (or higher) in Business Management, Engineering or a related discipline
(Candidates with other academic backgrounds or significant relevant experience are also welcome)
28. Business Management or Engineering experience
29. Familiarity with NEC contracts
30. Project Management training
31. Interest in organisational change and continuous improvement
32. Experience using digital tools for project portfolio planning and tracking
