Our Values: We Lead The Way | We Dream Big | We Get it Done | We Innovate | We Inspire our Community Role Purpose: The role of the U21 Performance Coach is to lead the day-to-day performance provision (including both on pitch and gym-based programming) for our U21 PGA team, whilst working closely with the Academy Performance Lead & technical staff to ensure holistic player development. The ideal candidate can embody not only LCL values, but our footballing identity and playing style, whilst incorporating these aspects into the day-to-day delivery with our U21 squad. They will push boundaries of elite level conditioning to ensure a seamless transition into 1st team football. They can facilitate the co-existence of footballing concepts and performance delivery, whilst maintaining a progressive and developmental mindset to all daily provision. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. Individual Tasks Responsible for day-to-day operations with the U21 group, including preparation & warm up provision, internal & external load analysis, wellness monitoring, and gym-based S&C programming Build bespoke IDPs for each player focusing on holistic physical development. Interact with dual registration clubs to ensure the development and protection of registered LCL Academy players. Attend and assist with workshops, in-service meetings, professional development courses/workshops and other development opportunities. Execute high level strength and conditioning through isolated, gym based, and football-based drills to ensure a smooth transition to First Team football. 2. Cooperative Tasks In collaboration with technical staff, embody technical and tactical concepts within performance concepts e.g. warm ups, gym. In collaboration with the Performance and Medical staff create and monitor off-season training programs, and assist in return to play processes as required. Work collaboratively with the Medical Lead to provide Multi-Disciplinary support, and education, by implementing and monitoring optimal female health, wellbeing, recovery, physical profiling, strength and conditioning, training and match load monitoring, nutrition, psychology, and return to play strategies. In collaboration with global team, develop and oversee a centralised AMS system to optimise physical data visualisation and interpretation, as well as to house data to assist in the long-term development of all players at the club. Cooperate with First Team performance staff as required to ensure loading criteria are met when players train across both squads. Work closely with technical staff to design a weekly structure regarding the physical demands of each session to ensure targets are met from a developmental, and protective standpoint. 3. Other ad-hoc duties as assigned from time-to-time by management Club Accountabilities 1. To comply with all Club policies, procedures and practices and carry out your role diligently and in the best interests of the Club 2. To lead with a proactive, high-performance mindset and actively contribute to a winning culture on and off the pitch 3. To behave in a manner consistent with Club values and policies 4. To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements. 5. To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel. What we are looking for Qualifications and Training Essential · A BSc in Exercise/Sports Science or a related field (or completing imminently) · Hold either a UK Strength and Conditioning accreditation (UKSCA) Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach qualification (ASCC), or the US National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach qualification (CSCS) – Or working towards (achievable within first 6 months) · Valid and accepted enhanced FA DBS or be willing to undertake this check if successful Desirable · Hold the Football Association level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) qualification · Master’s degree in Sports Science or performance related field Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential · Demonstrable experience working in the field of sports science / physical performance · Ability to work cooperatively as part of a wider MDT · Understanding of female physiology · Passion for the success of Women’s Professional Sports, innovation & research · Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience of data visualisation software such as Tableau, and or Power Bi Desirable · Demonstratable experience working in an applied football environment · Knowledge of Women and Girls Athletic populations to meet the demands of elite football · Experience in utilising sports science technologies such as: GPS, heart rate monitors, VALD technology and athlete management systems Characteristics · Passionate about women’s football and broader women’s sport culture. · Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to deal with matrix stakeholders & ambiguity. · High standards of personal integrity and EQ. · Comfortable and able to work on own initiative · Has a learning mindset; is keen to continue their self-development and keep up to date with best practice and learning opportunities · Continually seeks to improve efficiency and performance · Seeks out and embraces new ways of thinking and working – not afraid to fail.
