About the role:
AMLR is recruiting on behalf of a respected engineering and manufacturing business based in Loughborough. They specialise in producing bespoke mechanical equipment and precision-engineered components for a wide range of customers.
They are now looking for an experienced Design Draughtsman to join their engineering department. This is a varied and hands-on role involving design work, producing detailed manufacturing drawings, coordinating with internal teams, and supporting prototype and production activities.
You’ll work closely with engineering, purchasing, and workshop teams to ensure all projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Produce accurate 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings for bespoke equipment

Process and interpret customer-supplied drawings to support internal production
*
Prepare detailed job packs for workshop and production teams
*
Order materials, fabricated parts, and laser-cut items as required
*
Source bought-in components, ensuring accuracy of specification
*
Compile technical manuals, instruction documents, and end-user paperwork
*
Carry out occasional site surveys for measurements, layouts, and design details
*
Collaborate with accounts, purchasing, and engineering teams on active projects
*
Maintain strong attention to detail and ensure all design work meets quality standards
*
Work efficiently under pressure, managing deadlines and prioritising workloads
Skills & Requirements:
*
Proven experience in a Design Draughtsman or similar engineering design role
*
Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor (3D CAD)
*
Good understanding of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes
*
Ability to produce clear, accurate manufacturing drawings
*
Experience compiling technical documents and work instruction packs
*
Strong planning, scheduling, and problem-solving ability
*
Excellent organisational skills with a systematic and methodical approach
*
Confident communicator able to work with cross-functional teams
*
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*
Full UK driving licence (due to occasional site visits)
