The Role: We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team and support young people aged 11–16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. In this role, you’ll deliver engaging and high-quality Science lessons up to GCSE level, helping pupil’s gain the academic and life skills they need for their next steps, whether that’s further education, training, or employment. Our pupils can display challenging behaviours, so we’re looking for someone patient, resilient, and ready to build strong, supportive relationships. You’ll collaborate closely with the science team and help shape and develop our curriculum, keeping it fresh, relevant, and tailored to each pupils needs, contribute to important review of EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews for all pupils you teach. Alongside teaching, you will responsible for a tutor group of no more than 6 pupils, who you will see one a week as part of the timetable. Please see the link below for our full job description: Teacher - JD.docx Successful candidate qualities: Essential: PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training. To be able to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs in Science Desirable: Experience leading a science team, with knowledge and expertise around creating SOW, line management of science teachers and support staff. Experience of working in a KS3 and KS4 school environment, ideally in specialist education. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal. Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing pupil’s Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning. Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment. Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines. Ability to engage pupil’s in positive enabling relationships.
