We don’t do nights or weekends so feel this really offers something a little different to balance real life alongside it. We are open 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday at Preston & Wednesday to Friday 8am – 5pm at Chorley. This post is for our Chorley Chemotherapy Unit, with some scope to occasionally cover at RPH.
You will provide non-clinical support to the unit team carrying out tasks in order to facilitate an efficient Patient service.
The essence of the role is to assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment for patients and staff, and to ensure that stocks and supplies are kept at adequate levels within the clinical environment.
You will have autonomy in the ordering of stores, the reporting of faults and the initiation of works as required ensuring safe and smooth running of the Unit. You will attend necessary meetings, feeding back relevant information, action within own scope and share responsibilities with Senior staff to enable them to delegate to the appropriate person.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and appropriate storage of all equipment and furnishings, keeping them in good repair. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining an orderly environment will contribute significantly to the smooth operation of our clinical facilities.
Collaborating with clinical staff, your role extends to providing essential support in upholding a clean environment, including meticulous record-keeping of strict cleaning schedules.
This role includes overseeing the cleanliness and organisation of common areas such as staff and parent kitchen and sitting rooms. Your responsibilities encompass keeping these spaces clean, tidy, and well-stocked, with a focus on monitoring daily fridge temperatures. By contributing to the maintenance of these shared spaces, you play a vital role in creating a positive and comfortable environment for everyone on the unit.
Beyond the clinical aspects, you will provide valuable support in non-clinical duties related to patient needs. This includes maintaining medical supplies, dry goods, and other essential items to pre-determined levels throughout the clinical area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Maintenance of clinical environment and control of infection control issues
2. Ensure a clean, safe, tidy and comfortable clinical environment
3. To ensure the safe storage of equipment and maintenance of unit
stock levels
4. Assist with unit audit
5. To ensure that all equipment and supplies are within ‘use by’ date and used within date order.
6. Participate in the completion of audits, particularly relating to infection prevention and control.
7. To maintain and assist with patient Nutritional needs.
