General Description

The University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a Research Associate in Cartilage Growth Plate Engineering to contribute to an innovative research programme focused on tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This role is based within a multidisciplinary academic environment and will involve advancing the understanding of growth plate biology and developing engineered cartilage models.

The successful candidate will work on cutting‑edge approaches to engineer and study cartilage growth plate systems, contributing to research that aims to address challenges in skeletal development, injury repair, and regenerative therapies. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experimental studies, analysing and interpreting complex biological data, contributing to research publications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role may also involve supporting grant applications, mentoring junior researchers or students, and contributing to the wider academic activities of the department.

This is a fixed‑term research position aligned with an externally funded project and offers an opportunity to work in a leading UK research‑intensive university with access to state‑of‑the‑art facilities and collaborative networks.


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in a relevant discipline such as cell biology, tissue engineering, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field. Candidates should demonstrate a strong academic track record and experience relevant to cartilage biology or regenerative medicine research.


Required Expertise / Skills

* Strong background in cell and molecular biology, tissue engineering, or related biomedical research areas
* Experience with cell culture techniques, including stem cells or chondrocyte models
* Knowledge of cartilage biology and growth plate physiology
* Proven ability to design and conduct independent research experiments
* Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and scientific writing
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Strong communication and organizational skills
