Hybrid 3 days/week on site (please note, little to no public transport available)
Renishaw design and manufacture high quality metrology instrumentation and control systems. Due to current demand, it is continuing to develop innovative products requiring further support and maintenance of all aspects of design. Therefore, an EDA Support Technician is required to work within a busy, vibrant PCB design environment, providing support and development for the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) library and PCB design tools.
The EDA team support teams of both electronic design engineers (using schematics) and PCB designers, developing with the Zuken electronic design tools. The support and development for the libraries and EDA tools include circuit symbols, 3D component representation, component footprints, and PCB layout all conforming to IPC recommendations. In addition to this the EDA team also provide support and maintain the Zuken Cable & Panel tools and library. These EDA tools service all the Renishaw electronic design community from concept through to production.
Responsibilities
1. Supporting the creation of electronic component part data, using the library tools.
2. Create 3D models using Siemens NX software.
3. Read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and datasheets.
4. Liaising with and supporting the EDA Team members tasks and developing own skills within the team.
5. Providing support for EDA Software users.
6. Supporting the development of EDA/PCB Design Software Packages, Processes and Training.
7. Communicating progress regularly and promoting team knowledge sharing.
Key requirements
8. Motivated to use/learn EDA tools including Zuken CR8000 and E3
9. Interest/basic knowledge of PCBs, electronic components and design documentation
10. PC literate and familiarity with Microsoft applications
11. Ability to work individually and in a team
12. Good Communication skills
Desirable requirements
13. HND (or equivalent) in electronics or associated discipline
14. Knowledge of CAD library tools and 3D part creation
15. Ability to use EDA tools specifically Zuken
16. Understanding of existing Renishaw processes
17. Technical knowledge of PCBs, electronic components and design documentation
Person specification
As the successful applicant, you will need to demonstrate that you have excellent skills in accuracy, good attention to detail and a logical approach to problem solving. You should have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and will be able to work well within a team environment. Having the ability to work to predefined time scales is also essential.
