Overview
The Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology has a research grant income of £11.3 million per annum in 2024/2025, funded by UKRI (especially EPSRC), industry and ERC. This post is dedicated to coordinating new grant funding opportunities with over 30 academics within the department and is vital to the research objectives of the Department.
Principal Responsibilities
* Coordinate pre‑award activities for new grant opportunities, ensuring timely, accurate and risk‑mitigated applications.
* Assist with developing large grant bids and contribute to writing parts of the proposals.
* Act as liaison between Principal Investigators, project support staff, the Department’s Finance Manager and the Research Operations Office.
* Collaborate with the Deputy Head of Research to support the Research Committee and increase grant income for the department.
* Maintain grant documentation and use University systems such as Worktribe and CUFS.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree level education or equivalent practical experience.
* Proven experience in a similar research grants or financial coordination role, including managing budgets.
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to balance a varied workload to meet deadlines.
* Competent use of Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication skills and a flexible, team‑player attitude.
